Prints.co.nz is the place to buy Rita Angus prints. Painter Rita Angus (1908-1970) was born in Hastings and she began drawing at a very early age. Angus continued training after school by moving to Christchurch and studying at the Canterbury School of Art.
In 1958 Rita Angus travelled outside of New Zealand for the first time, her experiences in Europe confirming her desire to paint in a structured, meticulous manner. Angus' portraits (especially her self-portraits) and landscapes (including the very popular painting of the railway station at Cass) deserve the description iconic and are probably among the few paintings by New Zealand artists that would be recognised by most New Zealanders. We are delighted to have recently added several new prints of paintings by Rita Angus which have never been available before - the majority of these new prints were published in conjunction with the blockbuster retrospective exhibition of her artwork that toured New Zealand relatively recently.
