Ingrid Banwell (1957- ) was born in Taupo and spent her childhood in Wellington, Mexico City and New York. Ingrid graduated with a Masters Degree with First Class Honours in painting from the Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland in 1981. Her vibrant and distinctly South Pacific paintings are held in collections around the world. In 1985 she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council Travel Grant and has lived and worked in New York, London and Vienna. She currently lives in Australia. Her paintings play visual games with scale and take a humorous look at the relationship between humans and nature.
NB: After a number of years of great sales of her prints the artist is no longer re-printing a title once it sells out. Update: All prints by Ingrid Banwell have now sold out, eg "Auckland Essence", "Akaroa Gold", "Southern Lights" and "Houses, Trees and Mountains" are now sold out.
