Helen Brown (1917-1986) studied part-time for almost a decade at the Auckland University School of Fine Arts, working mostly on land- and sea-scapes. She travelled overseas in her middle years, returning with a fresh approach which eventually showed itself in simplifying images down almost to geometric shapes. Helen Brown's famous painting called Night race to Kawau reflects her love of water and the effects of light was available as a print published by the Capper Press but this print has now sold out.
