Leonetto Cappiello (1872 -1942), famous Italian/French poster designer. Despite his lack of formal art training Cappiello became one of most influential poster designers of the 20th century. His poster designs are still wonderful wall art today - especially in kitchens - as they advertise wine, liqueurs, and food. Cappiello was the first poster artist to use bold figures popping out of black backgrounds and has been called the "father of modern advertising" for his influence on future generations of designers.
