The Swiss artist Giger (1940 - 2014) known for his portraits combining humans and machines, and infamously worked on Alien, Ridley Scott's science fiction/horror film of the late 1970s (which received an Oscar for best visual effects for a film design based on a Giger painting). Giger's monochromatic canvasses depicting surreal, nightmarish dreamscapes have been widely reproduced as prints and posters, and his artwork is listed in the new dark wall art gallery here at New Zealand Fine Prints.
