By day Rodney Mackwell works for Christchurch's Tait Communications as a usability designer, making sure Tait’s clients get well designed products. However Rodney also found the time to create an artwork of Christchurch’s cathedral square out of 780,000 individual pixels! Begun in 2008 this artwork was completed after the earthquakes destroyed much of the square and surrounding buildings. Rodney published a print of the finished artwork after a crowdfunding campaign that included the offer to include a pixel version of some funders in the finished print! The Christchurch pixel art print has now sold out.
