Raymond McIntyre (1879-1933) was born in Christchurch and studied with van der Velden before leaving for England, painting and exhibiting in London and working as an art critic for the Architectural Review. Although he painted landscapes and interiors, he is better known for his portraits. One of McIntyre’s self-portraits was included in a series of prints published originally for use in art education in NZ schools and we have a new series of his better known portraits of female models coming out soon.
