Auckland artist Sofia Minson (1984 - ) is of Ngati Porou descent and specialises in portrait and landscape painting. Her well known contemporary Maori portraits, she says, “depict creative individuals who are helping to evolve today’s culture through their own art forms or roles in society”. Minson’s ambition is to be the world’s top contemporary Maori portrait painter and to “help build understanding, respect and friendship between cultures. Sofia Minson’s limited edition prints are printed to the highest standards of fine art digital reproductions. Printed by Auckland studio Opticmix the prints should last up to 120 years before any colour change is apparent to the human eye. Minson’s prints are created by first capturing the original painting as a high resolution digital image. It is then printed using light-fast pigments on museum quality, acid-free paper with advanced ink-jet technology.
