Monet prints and posters have always been stocked by New Zealand Fine Prints - in all these years this artist has never been out of fashion. Claude Monet (1840-1923) is famous as the leader of the Impressionist movement. Monet's career began as a caricaturist, but he began to paint outdoors and in 1860 went to Paris to study. Meeting Renoir, Manet and Cezanne among others, he began to develop the luminous style that was christened "impressionism". After a visit to England where he was influenced by Turner he returned to France (to Argenteuil) and set up his studio in a boat. Always fascinated by reflections in water and by the effect of light at different times of day and season Monet moved over time to almost abstract painting in works such as his paintings of Waterlillies. We stock several different prints of Monet's waterlillies paintings as well as a good selection of other works from top quality art publishers.
