Stefano Sassetta

Stefano di Giovanni (Sassetta) (c1392-c1450) is recognised as a leader of the Sienese School of Italian painters. His small paintings are comparable to medieval book illustrations, somewhat mystic and noted for a subtle handling of line and an understanding of anatomy.
