Ian Scott (1945 - 2013), NZ painter whose 1960s paintings of models copied from the pages of Vogue set against the NZ landscape have found a greater acceptance today than when they were first painted. Scott’s deep appreciation of the history of painting and painters in NZ (there are references in his work to Binney, Angus and McCahon) was initially overshadowed by the then scandalous subject matter of the series - of which “Leapaway Girl” is the finest example.
