Grahame Sydney (1948 - ) was born in Dunedin, New Zealand. After graduating from the University of Otago Sydney worked briefly as a secondary school teacher before heading overseas. When he returned to Dunedin in 1974 he began working fulltime as an artist. For many years he lived on Mt Pisa Station near Cromwell, Central Otago and his painting "Rozzie at Pisa" is in the national collection at Te Papa. Grahame Sydney has exhibited work throughout New Zealand over his long career. His paintings capture the New Zealand landscape, particularly Central Otago in a way that appears “realistic” but should never be confused with a “photographic” technique. Sydney composes and interprets the scene for the viewer.
