Mary Townsend

Painter of early NZ colonial scenes Mary Townsend (1822-69) came from a family of ten children and was the eldest of four daughters. Her father James brought his family out to the colony of Christchurch on The Cressy and purchased the Ferrymead farm on the banks of the Heathcote River.
