Fiona Whyte's prints use simplified forms, vivid colours and bold outlines to create a wonderful sense of a less complicated contemporary New Zealand lifestyle whilst simultaneously celebrating the increasing cosmopolitan nature of NZ city life (particularly Auckland). Whyte painted in acrylic on canvas artworks that are cheerful, vital, and her paintings capture perfectly the essence of New Zealand's coast and Auckland's cityscapes. Every building, plant or environment has its own personality.
A professional artist for nearly three decades, Fiona moved from Auckland in 1999 to the nearby rural town of Helensville (just 50km away) to get some of what she called a "less complicated lifestyle" and was living in Russell before her untimely death in mid 2020.
