Now sometimes spelt with an extra a - ie Kaiaraara - on Great Barrier Island has been a location for several paintings and prints by iconic NZ painter Don Binney. In this print of an original painting a kaka soars over the landscape, its wings spread out displaying some magnificent plumage in waves of colour that contrast with the earthy tones of the lush Great Barrier vegetation.
