Whareakeake (Otago) by Justin Summerton

Small edition of just 50 prints by well regarded NZ painter Justin Summerton. Each giclee print is titled,  signed and numbered by the artist.

Also known as ‘Murdering Bay’ Whareakeake is a beach 25 kilometres northeast of Dunedin in the South Island of New Zealand and is a section of the Otago Heads.

Māori lived here from early times until the Sealers' War skirmish of 1817 from which it derived its colloquial name. It is now a surfing beach renowned for its right-hand point break.
