Image size in millimetres: 470 x 470In Barry's own words "Seachange is the ability to alter course, to make a substantial change in perspective as a society. In this work, the sunlight strikes the far horizon - better days are maybe ahead if we can negotiate our current times. The Bethells Beach Surf Lifesaving Patrol station with the single flag (swim between the flags campaign) signifies an unassured safety as there is no other visible flag to coordinate with. A pair of Northern Royal Albatross sit on a nest, they usually mate for life and represent my family. The graffiti are signs of out current epoch: The 6th extinction seems to be upon our wildlife. 2001 a Space Odyssey is a film about a computer(AI) taking over. 2+2=5 is a quote from 1984 about psychological manipulation. Fahrenheit 451 is about book burning (the control of knowledge)."
