This view was painted in April 1841 while Heaphy was based in Wellington. It is plate 14 of 56 colour plates taken from Tony Murray Oliver’s “A Folio of Watercolours by Charles Heaphy” published in 1981. The original painting was the basis for one of the famous set of early NZ lithographs after Heaphy by lithographer Thomas Allom.
