Onetangi Bach, Waiheke Island by Justin Summerton

Justin writes about this print of an Onetangi bach,"I was living on Waiheke Island at the time. I said to a friend, an artist, that we were living on an island within an island within an island. The first island being the one you live in in your mind as an artist, the second being Waiheke and the third being the North Island of New Zealand. It's_a comment about isolation really. The bach in this painting is the epitome of the NZ hermit hut. My agent in Auckland called it "the ultimate bolt hole". It is on Onetangi beach where I used to walk in the mornings and even managed to surf a few times. When I kept going back there to look for waves I realised it was time to head back to the big island where the swell is abundant. Waiheke is the Yin to the Piha Yang."
