Portrait of this childhood kiwiana icon by contemporary painter Matt Guild. Sold in New Zealand from 1941 wooden "Mary Lou" dolls came with pink bodies for girls and blue bodies for boys. The wooden beaded dolls were used as teething toys for babies and a modernised version is still sold in stores today. In this kiwiana print Matt has carefully composed a matching pair of vintage Mary Lou dolls belonging to his children. All of Matt's kiwiana series are handsigned and titled in pencil below the image
