Full title of this vintage NZ aviation poster is "Tasman Empire Airways Ltd : Go by Tasman Road, the fast smooth aerial highway. ZK-AME. Tasman Empire Airways Limited, incorporated in New Zealand. Head Office, Mechanics Bay, Auckland, New Zealand." Originally printed using offset photolithography by C M Banks Ltd of Wellington this poster dates from between 1946-1949. It depicts a Short S.25 Sandringham "Tasman" class Sunderland Flying Boat (ZK-AME), a 30 seat passenger aircraft leased to TEAL that entered commercial service on the 17th of September 1946. The route it flew (shown by the arrow)between Australia and New Zealand was between Auckland and Sydney. R.M.A. New Zealand on the nose of the aeroplane stands for "Royal Mail Aircraft". A beautifully designed poster from NZ's aviation history that has been re-printed in the original size by New Zealand Fine Prints. Printed using lightfast inks on superb vintage style watercolour paper this extremely high quality print will last for decades.
