This large version of Cook's famous map has recently been re-issued by New Zealand Fine Prints in response to many requests for a bigger version of Cook's map of NZ than those currently available from other publishers. The original antique map was engraved by Barak Longmate as Plate 25 in the Hawkesworth publication of Cook's voyages (1773) and was hand coloured. With both English names and Cook's phonetic rendering of Maori names this historical map is a tribute to Cook's surprisingly accurate coastal surveying. Re-printed on superb 100% cotton rag etching paper using lightfast inks this map feels and looks just like an antique map should.
