Rise up is the first in a new series of large sized prints published by popular New Zealand artist Barry Ross Smith. Barry has created an image which evokes the strength and passion we feel about our national sport - Rugby - and the world famous NZ team - the All Blacks. Barry writes about this new print "the defiant half-man/half-bull figures challenge all-comers with the Haka. The image evokes the passion of New Zealand's national pastime and fuses it with our pastoral farming and livestock heritage. Although the figures derive from Greek legend (the Minotaur), the bull haka remains staunchly and quintessentially Kiwi." In the painting Barry uses exposed brush strokes to bring alive the full force of the team's determination.
