Paua Print
Image size in millimetres: 300 x 300Iridescent shells of NZ’s Paua, found on rocks along the sea shore. Maori used paua as both kaimoana (food from the sea) and in their art - as jewellery and in carving where the paua shell was used as eyes - representing the eyes of the ancestors that look out from the night sky. This print is of a painting by NZ artist Jo Bridge - who artistic practice is concerned with the beauty you can observe in nature when you look closely at the textures and patterns - a challenge she says, with regards to compositon and perspective.
