New Zealand’s native wood pigeon or Kereru, always on the look out for delicious berries. Painted from life by NZ painter Jane Puckey. This reproduction of her original painting is a limited edition giclee print, this means that it is printed using lightfast pigment based inks on archival paper (in this case acid free 308gsm Hahnemuhle Rag paper). Kereru can eat so many berries in summer that the contents of their stomachs ferment and they become tipsy enough tooccasionally plummet out of the trees they are roosting in. A traditional food for Maori the plump Kereru makes a distinctive whooshing sound as it passes overhead.
