Although this now famous image is from 1992 it did not attract much controversy until it was included in the exhibition “Dick Frizzell: Portrait of a Serious Artiste” five years later. The moko on the Four Square Man then became a lightening rod for discussion about the appropriation of Maori motifs and design into NZ art. This high quality reproduction print of the original 1992 silkscreen print was published in late 2013. Dick Frizzell has overseen this new range of well-priced prints of his most popular original prints and paintings personally. The artist has provided the original scans, designed the layout and style of the title and attribution below the image. “Grocer with Moko” can be framed with or without the caption on the framing margin below the image.
