Print sheet size in millimetres: 420 x 360Edition of 100 colour screenprints. Signed, dated and numbered by Dick Frizzell in pencil. NB: the reference image shows an A/P from when we first listed this print for sale, you will receive a numbered print from this edition.

This print is a companion artwork for the “Great New Zealand Cookbook” which featured 80 of NZ’s finest chefs, cooks and bakers contributing recipes they make for the people they love. Dick’s interest in hand drawn signs for road side stalls and restaurant menus is longstanding and is often referenced in his artwork. Frizzell’s menu features kiwi favourites like Whitebait patties with sliced white bread through to Date Pudding with custard. The phrase “Grub’s up” is the typical kiwi mixture of understated informality mixed with respect for propriety and good manners - it means “the meal is served”, we’ll all eat together at the same time, probably seated at the table and it would be rude to linger.
