Shane’s prints are usually accompanied by the artist’s poetic description of the artwork’s subject and this new print is no exception. Hansen writes about “Kakariki” (one of NZ’s native birds from the parakeet family) thus “He wears his crown with pride, this little whipper-snapper of life. Like natures highlighter pen, he leaves his mark across a cloudless sky. A neon bundle of energy with a personality to match. His feeding habits are not my cup of tea, I prefer kai on plate thank you very much! But boy, I admire his flair for fashion – bright and bold, no holds barred.” NB: The word Kakariki in Maori also refers to the colour green.
